Everything looks original, but according to the Fender serial nbr guide, this serial nbr has an extra digit. Vintage Series, check neck date for specific year E4 + 5 5 digits E8 + 5 5 digits V + 4, 5 or 6 5 digits U. ![]() ![]() Have fun with the project - I've rescued a few basses and it's always fun bringing them back to their intended glory. Fender Serial Number Lookup And most stock Custom Shop guitars since 1999 have had serial numbers with an R prefix. I just fixed up a bass and didn't do it, and now I have to go back and correct my mistake.
